Environmental protection is an incredibly wide-ranging topic, but we are determined to do our part by embracing responsible business practices!

OBJECTIVE: To reduce our carbon footprint

With this in mind, we have decided to take the following steps to reduce our carbon footprint.

  • Since 2022, we no longer print our full catalogue each year, instead prioritising digital communications.
Compared with printing a full annual catalogue, these communications create 87.5% less greenhouse gas emissions.
  • We have also decided to use recycled paper to print our brochures.
  • We encourage our customers to choose pick-up points when delivering their orders.
  • We are renovating our production building for greater energy efficiency.
  • We are increasing the number of LCAs (life cycle assessments), improving the recyclability of our products, and streamlining our range.

ECO-MATERIALS CHARTER

With the support of our research and development team, we are committed to developing a range of materials for more responsible orthotics.

As part of our commitment to transparency, we classify our materials in terms of environmental responsibility.

LOCAL

Indicator of the geographical location of material production. Provides information on the transport of materials (carbon footprint).

  • France
  • Italy
  • Spain
  • Belgium
  • Germany
  • Rest of the Europe
  • Rest of the world

GREEN PRODUCT

Analysis of the entire manufacturing process and the components of the material. Offers an overview of the product's environmental responsibility (bio-sourced, recyclable, bio-degradable, bio-component, etc.).

  • 70% eco-design
  • 30% eco-design
  • 30% eco-design

ECO-DESIGN

Our mission:

To contribute to carbon neutrality by reducing our CO₂ emissions.

Our objective:

To reduce our carbon footprint by 21% by 2026.

Our plan:

To put environmental protection first in every design, thus ensuring that our products are less polluting for the planet.

Case study: OPCT® Multisport Extra Slim

BEFORE

  • Materials from Asia, Europe and France
  • 0% recycled materials
  • 100% recyclable bags

AFTER

  • Materials from Europe and France
  • 45% recycled or bio-sourced materials
  • 100% recyclable and 30% recycled bags

OPCT® BAGS

In 2023, we converted all our OPCT® bags into eco-friendly, 100% recyclable bags made from 30% recycled PE.

We include a QR code on OPCT® bags to reduce the need to print out instructions.

By scanning the code, users can find all the care advice they need to help their orthotic insoles last as long as possible.

NEW OPCT® RANGE

The new OPCT® range includes eco-designed models made partly from bio-sourced or recycled materials, which can be identified by this logo:

Our commitments, our values and our determination are driving us to include more and more of these types of materials of this type in our OPCT® insoles.

SIDAS WORLD: AN ENVIRONMENTALLY RESPONSIBLE APPROACH

Podiatech is a member of the Sidas World Group and a key stakeholder in the Group's responsible approach.

SIDAS WORLD: OBJECTIVE

In terms of climate change, the global challenge is clear: we all have to reduce our CO₂ emissions.

SIDAS WORLD has set itself an ambitious objective:

'21% reduction in carbon intensity by 2026

To meet this target, we must get our entire ecosystem involved, encouraging all our partners to reduce their own CO₂ emissions.

SIDAS WORLD: VISION

Environmental protection is an incredibly wide-ranging topic, but we are determined to do our part by embracing responsible business practices.

VISION

Every time we are considering a course of action, we ask ourselves:

Does this action make SENSE for our customers, for the company, and for the environment?
If it does not make sense, we will not hesitate to say NO!

For every action we do decide to undertake, we ask ourselves the following questions:

How can we MINIMISE the impact in terms of raw materials, waste and pollution? …

How can we MAXIMISE sustainability?
Improving quality and reparability, reusing, recycling…

EXAMPLES OF ACTIONS ALREADY IMPLEMENTED WITHIN SIDAS WORLD

  • 75% of employees have signed up to the active mobility and car-sharing policy.

  • 100% of mobile teams will be trained in eco-driving by 2024.

  • 70 % : the latest buildings are eco-designed and produce 70% of the energy they consume.

  • 758 kilos of CO₂ were saved in 2023 by choosing second-hand IT equipment.

  • Recovery of used IT equipment entrusted to the MANUTAN collection and recovery service.

  • Optimisation and reuse of off-cuts.

THE SIDAS WORLD FOUNDATION

Sponsored by the Fondation de France

« In addition to performance and satisfaction, companies have a duty to take responsibility for people and the environment. The Sidas World Foundation is tackling environmental issues by supporting concrete climate and biodiversity projects. »

Let's take action together!

A word from the directors
Jean-Pierre Delangle and François Duvillard

The Foundation is an integral part of Sidas World's raison d'être

Born from SIDAS's desire to take action for the planet through concrete climate and sustainable development projects, the Foundation has set out to make a lasting contribution to the preservation and rehabilitation of natural ecosystems.

VOCATION

The aim of the Fund is to support sustainable development projects that help to reduce carbon emissions and preserve ecosystems. It also supports initiatives to raise awareness and inform the public about sustainable development.

SPHERES OF ACTION

The Sidas World Foundation's primary objective is to support projects to improve natural carbon capture:

  • Planting
  • Preserving forests, peat bogs and mangroves
  • Restoring natural areas
  • Protecting biodiversity
  • Awareness-raising and training

WHY CREATE A FOUNDATION?

  • To support dedicated actors who are carrying out concrete projects in our regions.
  • Fundraising.
  • To raise awareness of sustainable development issues among the company's employees.
  • To protect biodiversity.
  • To bring people together by involving our entire ecosystem.

TEAM for the Planet

Born from SIDAS's desire to take action for the planet through concrete climate and sustainable development projects, the Foundation has set out to make a lasting contribution to the preservation and rehabilitation of natural ecosystems.

Team for the Planet is raising money to identify and deploy innovative global scientific solutions to combat greenhouse gases in various sectors (cement, data centres, carbon capture, etc.).

In 2022, SIDAS WORLD became a major shareholder in Team for the Planet. This role cemented its dedication to the fight against climate change, allowing it to play a part in the decisions taken at the general meetings.

Mehdi Colly, co-founder of Team for the Planet, joined the SIDAS WORLD Foundation's executive committee in 2022 as a carbon expert, offering information and advice.
